I think that teaching is about "believing", therefore my Teaching Standards are based on " believing" that I can transform my students' life through a Multicultural and Global learning experience".
Standard 1“ Teachers Demonstrate Leadership I believe in being a leadership for my students, the school, the school district, the community, and extend my leadership activities to places where my students’ learning can be enriched. I am part of the CMS Global Educator Leadership Cohort (GELC).
Standard 2 “Teachers Establish A Respectful Environment For A Diverse Population Of Students I believe in creating a classroom that is a safe and welcoming community where the students feel comfortable enough to share their thoughts and ideas. I promote a deep understanding of cultures and Global education in the school through the integration of culturally sensitive materials and ideas through the curriculum. I am developing a Capstone Project to lead ESL students to develop a multicultural vision of the world and enable them to become leaders capable to solve micro and macro global issues connected with real world experiences.
Standard 3: Teachers Know The Content They Teach I believe it is important to build a multicultural environment in the school, by providing professional development about Cultural awareness and Global education, creating interdisciplinary units with teachers from other subject areas, and working collaboratively with other staff in planning and implementing global awareness activities through the curriculum. I believe that a multicultural school environment motivates students to expand their knowledge and satisfy their natural curiosity through investigation, discovering, and creating projects that connect them with global events. I believe that a multicultural curriculum will help students to develop and demonstrate sensitivity to differences in ability, social and cultural backgrounds. And will enable them to express diverse viewpoints of different realities of the world with respect and accuracy.
Standard 4: Teachers Facilitates Learning for their Students I believe that promoting, encouraging, and offering expertise in differentiation during grade level team meetings, will contribute to the academic success of all students. I believe that monitoring students’ performance and responding to cultural diversity and learning needs through the school improvement process will create a successful cultural learning environment that will encourage students to develop a high critical thinking.
Standard 5: Teachers Reflect on Their Practice I believe that learning is a collaborative job among parents, teachers, and community. I believe that inviting parents and community to discuss and explore ways to help students learn will contribute to a successful learning development with a more multicultural critical thinking.
